Q1. How do we order our Gifts
A1. You simply choose your gift online & type of print you have chosen (fingerprint, handprint, footprint, paw print, picture or writing). We then send you a partly completed order form for you to fill in which will include the names you would like on your charm & any message on the back. You will have already chosen your print type online, so we will have send you a fingerprint kit or a wipe kit depending on which is your chosen print. Once we receive you completed form along with your fingerprint impression kit or handprint we can then complete your order.
Q2. Is the fingerprint impression kit & handprint wipe kit safe.
A2. The fingerprint impression kit is perfectly safe. It is a very easy, non-toxic, putty impression kit. It takes minutes to work. You simply roll the 2 colours together until they become 1, roll it out gently & press the finger directly into the putty without rolling it too much as to not distort the print. If you are not happy with the impression then simply roll out and repeat. The putty sets in minutes so please be aware of the time. Once you have your print, let the putty set completely & return it back to us in the envelop provided along with the container asap.
The wipe kit are extremely safe. They are used in hospitals in America to identify babies born by their hand & footprints. The wipes are inkless, you simply wipe the baby, child, animals hand, foot or paw & then press it against the paper provided. There is plenty of paper to do a further print if you do not like the first one. Please indictae on the paper which is your desired print with the persons name to be printed onto the charm, just so we know if you have taken several prints from differant people.
Q3. How old does my child have to be to do prints?
A3. We do not recommend that a print is done on a baby aged under 4 months. This is because we/you do not want to be firm on the childs fingers while pressing into the putty as babies bones are so fragile.
We can do prints from 4 months and above, the smaller the finger the less defined the print may be. Full instructions are included with the impression kit. But please be assured that if we receive your print and it has no lines or is not suitable for casting we will contact you before we go ahead. If the child is under 18 months with few lines we will assume you re happy to go ahead with the print. If we have to re-issue kits due to anything else but the impression kit failing there will be a charge of £2.50.
Q4. I love my charm & print, do i need to do another impression?
A4. If you are happy for us to use the impression that we already have then you don't have to do anything. If we don't have the impression as you din;nt specify on the order form to keep it then you will have to repeat the process. Please inform us either way if the personalisation on the charm is differant.
Q5. When do I tell you what lettering or dates I want on the charm?
A5. When you receive the impression kit, you will receive your partly completed order form. you simply state in the box what you want written on the front & back of the charm, please indicate if you want a kiss (x) adding. If you have a 2nd charm then there is a box for charm 2 to include. On average we can fit 6-8 letters on the front of a charm depending on the name. 1 print can fit on a regular charm, 2 on a large charm. We may have to have the name on the back of a regular charm if the print is large.
Q6. Is there a differance between Sterling Silver & Solid Silver?
A6. Yes Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure out of 1000, Solid Silver is 99.9% pure out of 1000.
Q7. Do I have to have my piece Hallmarked?
A7. If your Charm or Gift weighs above 7.78grams which is the threshold in th UK it has to be sent away to be hallmarked. If we send your item away this can add a further 7-10 working days if there is no postal strikes. All other fingerprint charms are not hallmarked but can be adding an extra cost of £20, if you require your item hallmarked please specify on the order form.
Q8. How will the items be sent back?
Once your gift is finished it will be sent back b Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. If you require your item to be sent b Royal Mail Special Delivery then there will be extra postal costs, please specify on your order form.
Q8. Will my charms be soldered?
A8. We charm an extra £2 for your charm to be soldered, please specify this on the order form. We only use very solid rings which need to be opened with plyers using a twisting motion.
Q9. What happens if the item is damaged?
A9. This has never happened before as we bubble wrap all of gifts & then package them well. Please contact us by 2pm by the following day to inform us on any damage. The only way your gift is insured is by Royal Mail Special Delivery, unfortunately it is not insured by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. Recorded Delivery is only used to confirm if the gift has been signed for.
Q10. Can I return the item for a refund?
A10. Once you have seen your gift we can hand on heart say that you will not want to return your gift!As it is a bespoke item once we have had the impression kit returned to us & have started making your gift we cannot give a refund as the item is a one of a kind. If we have not started making the charm but have the impression kit has been sent or received there will be a small £10.00 cancellation fee. You have the right to cancel your orderbut only if the impression kits have not been sent out.As with all jewellery, links can be opened or broken if not treated with care. You are strongly advised to carefully check your jewellery when you receive it & contact us within 7 days if it is delivered faulty or damaged. Please note your statutory rights remain intact at all times. In the unlikely event please email marie@dollydimples.co.uk. Once we have approved a return request you will be asked to return the item damaged to us. We suggest you use Royal Mail Special Delivery. In event of a faulty item needing to be returned your shipping costs will be returned.
